How Does Invisalign Work?

Worn for 20-22 hours each day, Invisalign aligners are made of clear plastic that is customized according to the trajectory of your smile throughout treatment. When in contact with your teeth, these trays apply gentle pressure so that your pearly whites and/or jaw move correctly.
After 1-2 weeks of wear, you are required to swap out your current set of aligners for new ones so that your smile will continue to shift. Throughout treatment, you’ll be required to maintain follow-up appointments with our office so that we can ensure everything is moving along smoothly. Based on the severity of your case and how well you’ve followed your plan, it’s possible to achieve results within 12-18 months on average.
Benefits of Invisalign

Countless patients have experienced the benefits of Invisalign. Unlike those found with traditional braces (i.e., ability to address complex dental issues, reliability, etc.), Invisalign’s capabilities go far beyond anything you might experience with metal appliances. If these clear aligners are what you desire, you can expect:
- Increased comfort because of how smooth the aligners feel. There are no protruding brackets to rub against your gums, cheeks, tongue, or lips.
- Easy maintenance because Invisalign requires no special instruments or products to keep them clean, only a soft-bristled toothbrush, lukewarm water, and clear soap.
- Discreetness, as Invisalign aligners are made out of clear plastic, so they’re virtually invisible as long as you commit to taking proper care of them and avoiding darkly pigmented foods and beverages.
- Greater flexibility because Invisalign aligners must be removed before eating or drinking.
